Miniconfs are "community organised streams", and next year, we're supporting
them as first-class, top-billing conference days -- keynotes, scheduling and
all. Miniconfs give "People's Choice" a focus. BOFs and FIXITs provide great
opportunities for ad-hoc meeting and hacking.

> Why are the submissions not publicly accessible?

It wouldn't enhance the process. Each organising team puts together a review
team of trusted, opinionated, linux.conf.au-savvy troublemakers who have the
onerous task of sifting gold from silver. It's not pretty, nor should it be.

Selection under public pressure is going to suck. Collaboration under public
pressure, such as BOFs, Miniconfs and other events with an unconference bent
often rock. Those are the right places to put the "direct democracy" energy.
