Subject: [marketing-educ] Mascot competition
Hi everyone,
The mascot competition closed at the end of February and we have 31
entries from around the world. These can be viewed and you can cast your
votes at http://www.math.umd.edu/~dcarrera/openoffice/mascot/vote.cgi
Daniel Carrera has kindly set up the entries on his web based voting
system at this site. Anyone can vote but in order to reduce the effects
of multiple votes the system records the IP address of the voter and
only allows voting from a particular IP address once. If you are in say
a school, this will be a problem if lot's of people want to vote. There
are two solutions to this. 1.) vote from home or a different location
2.) Teacher gathers votes and E-mails a summary to
dcarrera at math.umd.edu.
Each of the images has a two letter identifier so to pass on a summary
you just need to E-mail the pattern of voting and give the name of the
school and the teacher responsible.
eg
AA 10
AB 5
AC 11 ...etc
The site randomises the order of the pictures so there is fairness in
which entries are at the top etc.
I am setting a deadline of 14th March at 12-00 UTC for voting. When the
poll closes we'll see which mascot was most popular. I reserve the
right as stated at the beginning to make modifications to the winner if
necessary but I'll try and preserve it as close to the original theme as
possible and the person responsible for the image and their school will
get the credit for the design.
So please publicise this as far as possible. And to the entrants - good
luck!
