System Engineer / System Test, Full Time

This is an immediate opportunity to work with us in the multimedia messaging field.  Become part of a team of professional services technical consultants on live customer implementations. Consultants will become part of our Openwave Implementation Team implementing and supporting installations globally.  This team of consultants will perform Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) deployments. 

The ideal candidate will be versed in UNIX System Administration (Linux, Solaris, or AIX), Veritas File Systems, Veritas Volume Manager, VCS or Sun Cluster, Oracle (basics), Networking (TCP), Shell Scripting, Perl, and LDAP.  The candidate will have worked in a high availability production network environment.  This person will be able to perform in-depth troubleshooting of the system and network and will be able to communicate concisely when called upon.  A strong ability to multitask, own and execute, and follow through on issues is key for this position.  The candidate also needs to have a strong desire to proactively reduce system faults and system down time.

Minimum Requirements: Undergraduate Degree and/or 3-7 years work experience in live production environment, strong technical background in Internet-related technologies, experience with Oracle or DB2, strong understanding of LDAP, detailed knowledge of Unix operating systems and system administration, exposure to defining and writing system documentation, proven troubleshooting skills on large systems in a large network environment, testing/QA experience to execute test plans during system deployments, knowledgeable with Enterprise networks, Cisco & EMC products, F5/BigIP devices, Network Security, Veritas, shell and Perl scripting, and considerable exposure to Sun H/W.

Preferred Technical Capabilities:  Strong team work skills in a HA system environment, prior exposure to messaging platforms, previous Unix administration experience, intermediate to experienced in shell and/or Perl scripting.  

Soft Skills Preferred:  Ability to coach and mentor associate consultants, Project Management skills, ability to represent Openwave with a professional approach and manner at onsite engagements, good interpersonal and communication skills with team members, management and the customer, and the ability to multitask and function competently in a fast paced environment to meet stringent SLA objectives.
