Looks interesting.  Unfortunately (or fortunately
depending on how you look at it), it seems to be
released under GPL rather than LGPL, meaning
I can't use it to write proprietry software for my
company.

I am investigating something called
"Common C++ Library" to see if it is of any
use.  It is released under LGPL.
