This is not really the list for installation problems, but about linux
programming.

There is no such thing as linux 6.1 or 6.2. You probably mean Red Hat
6.1 or 6.2, both of which are pretty ancient. I'd recommend to use a
more recent version, like Red Hat 7.2, SuSE 7.3, or Mandrake 8.1.
