Hi everyone

Linux Australia is pleased to announce that the 2026 Grants Program is now
open. Applications are welcome from all members of Linux Australia.

There are two different types of grants on offer. Project Grants provide
funding for open source, open data, open government, open education, open
hardware and open culture projects. Community Grants offer funds to assist
groups within our community with their activities, bringing people together
in person, virtually, or both.

The total funding available for all grants and sponsorships in 2026 is
$30,000.

Applications close on Sunday 15 Nov 2026 at 23:59 anywhere on earth, or when
the grant funds have been exhausted (whichever is earlier).

Full details are given on the Linux Australia Grants page[1], accessible in
the Member Area after logging in to the Linux Australia website[2]. This
includes grant guidelines and an outline of the application process.

As part of the ongoing rationalisation of mailing lists and to increase
grant visibility, announcements of grant applications and related
discussions have been moved to linux-aus in 2026. The number of
grant-related messages is low so this is not expected to increase list
traffic substantially.

Members of the Linux Australia Council[3] are happy to discuss grant
ideas, provide guidance in the preparation of an application, and answer any
questions there may be about the program.

The Linux Australia Council looks forward to receiving and evaluating grant
applications from the community.
