[Linux-aus] Grant Request: Contribute to the Drupal 8 Accelerate fund

Hi Donna!

When I first read this I was initially put off by the "consider making a
contribution ... in my name" section - I thought that surely this should be
done in the name of LA rather than an individual.

But reading the excellent summary of the background prepared by Kathy, I
now understand that each of the board members has been asked to personally
oversee the collection of an amount of funding, and you're asking that LA
donates this money in such a way that it counts as part of the funding you
oversaw rather than going into the general "Broader community" funding pool.

As you point out, many of your colleagues run large Drupal companies, which
makes (or should, at least) collecting funding in their name much easier.
You have chosen not to do this; instead, my understanding is that you've
put lots of effort into growing the broader Drupal community in Australia.
My understanding is that a large part of the reason that the Drupal events
in Australia are run by, and return funding to, LA rather than the Drupal
foundation is largely due to your work.

On this basis, it seems perfectly reasonable to me that (A) LA supports the
Drupal foundation with this funding request, and (B) that LA does so in a
way that makes it clear that LA is able to do this because of your efforts.

So in short, I wholeheartedly support this request. It seems to be in
keeping with LA's goals, and it seems an excellent way to return funding
raised from the Drupal community back to the Drupal community.
