Some words of caution based on some bad experiences with PCOs (not to do
with LA). When evaluating a potential PCO, I would recommend getting
details on recent conferences they organised, and then speak to the CEO
and treasurer of those client organisations.

A generic problem I have encountered is an attitude that you (the client)
are working for the PCO, not the other way around. The PCO can demand
information or decisions from you, always tied to "must have by", but if
you ask for information from them, there is often no response, or a clear
"no". I've even encountered situations where the local meeting committee
has said "we really want ... done this way", only to get the reponse "if
you make a demand like that, we're pulling out right now" - makes it fairly
clear who is boss.
