To put that differently:

The organisation currently called "Linux Australia" does not have a
Linux focus; it's a free and open source community organisation.

Yes, its greatest success to date has been acting as the legal backing
for one of the best Linux conferences for over a decade now (though
even that also happens to be one of the best free software / open
source conferences more generally).

Almost everything else it's done -- from the other conferences run
under its auspices, to its submissions to parliamentary enquiries, the
mirror service, software freedom day, half the grants that have gone
out -- isn't about Linux, but is about community led free and open
source activities...
