Circumstances change.

When I was nominated for Vice President I was happy to be in a  
position to assume the President's responsibilities.

Since then my wife and I have found out we're expecting, and being  
pragmatic about the situation, I realise there is no way I could  
adaquetely balance serving the Linux Australia community as President  
and my resposibilities to my family.
