Agreed - the whole AUUG/LA merger or other option discussion is moot
until AUUG generates a ballot paper and polls their membership.

The name change is a broader issue that seems to come down to "does the
Linux Australia brand reflect the role of the organisation or do other
aspects of the role need to be expressed in the brand". If it is the
latter then potentially consideration should be given to changing the
brand. Given the risk associated with changing brands then any change
would need to pass a rigorous cost/benefit analysis.

Personally I think the risks outweigh any benefits but further analysis
and discussion is definitely needed and I am sure that will occur given
the strength of opinions on the topic. :)
