One of the major problems with the last election was lack of
participation. One of the major reasons for lack of participation was
lack of visibility. This time we're trying to make the process as
visible as possible so everyone has a chance to be involved, and one
part of that effort is making sure LA members know when something
important (such as a nomination being made) occurs within the system.

Sure, the format of the actual messages can be improved (and will be
once MemberDB is updated *after* this election) but their mere
presence and the limited information they currently include is far
better than not having them at all.
