Dunno... One of the problems is that the only time the academic year
only really aligns at the end of the year, and organizing things around
then is a lot harder (people shut down for Christmas, don't want to go
to an event in December, have office parties, want to spend time with
the kids, etc). September is early enough to hot hurt people's exam
study, but not too close to a possible January LCA.
You need to remember it's only a weekend as well, so Perth people could
fly in Friday arvo / night, and fly back Sunday night (perhaps, I
haven't checked the flight schedual).
