Having written cynically about what MS may be trying to achieve with DRM, how 
about looking at the sort of things that could be done with OpenOffice/OASIS 
and things like straight GnuPG or even an adaption of Aegypten ?

We could have:

 - Encrypted documents that only certain people can read.
 - Documents signed against changes.
 - Documents you can prove you wrote (and didn't write).
 - Signed edits ?
 - Pass keys around inside OOo docs ?

Strikes me that OOo could also provide a nice interface for GnuPG which would 
be platform independant.  Windows user types in text of email into OOo, 
selects "encrypt and sign", or just "sign", and cut & pastes ciphertext into 
Eudora, etc (and visa versa) ?  Not elegant, but functional.

You could integrate key-management stuff like grabbing keys from the key 
server too..
