I have first-hand experience of this with redHat ES3  and I have seen 
references to it affecting Fedora.... although the RH9 distro is 
supposedly OK so the following stuff may not help:

Try This: Make sure the settings for your NICs are correctly configured 
in /etc/sysconfig/eth* and then disable kudzu (chkconfig del kudzu).

If your NICs work after turning off kudzu and re-booting, then leave 
kudzu disabled - at least, until you next need to add or change hardware.
