Linux Application Integration
Search and Rescue Aircraft Mission System Project

Acacia Research is a small and innovative development company undertaking  
challenging projects in areas of Airborne and Submarine Mission and Tactical  
Data Systems.
We are looking for an experienced Linux system specialist to configure and  
tightly integrate a number of Application packages into our ORAC Airborne  
Mission System desk top, aircraft network and a SATCOM WAN and communication  
environment. The position is a 4 to 6 month contract with opportunity to  
transition to a permanent role for the right person.
The proposed Linux applications include NTP, an Email client (Thunderbird),  
Web client (Firefox), VLC media player, Jitsi messaging and Pidgin Chat  
client.
The system is being developed in C++, Ubuntu Linux with GTK+/OpenGL using a  
lightweight iterative process with heavy emphasis on testing and progressive  
integration. The person will work closely with the GUI developers and the  
Aircraft Systems Integrators.

Self-guided problem solving: you can figure out how to get from A to B
Integration aptitude: 	you have effective testing strategies and debugging  
skills.
Documentation: you clearly describe your approach and implementation
Communication/collaboration: you interact constructively with the software  
development team and the platform integrator
Efficiency: you are independently productive but ask for help as needed

Required skills:
Linux desktop application proficiency
Linux System Administration
Advanced network configuration

Desirable skills:
Familiarity with SATCOM and Communication Equipment integration.
Engineering math background and eligibility for a Security clearance  
considered favourably.
