Devdas Bhagat's talk in the LCA 2013 Sysadmin Miniconf inspired me to continue the conversation by running a Monitoring BOF. I then decided to create this list to carry the discussion forward and work on the issues.

Some of the problems identified in the talk include:

* existing FOSS solutions (e.g. Nagios) usually don't scale well
* multiple teams need to deal effectively with various sub-parts of the infrastructure
* polling sucks

Subscribing to Monitoring

Subscribe to Monitoring by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator.
