[PyCon-AU-chat] Running before the sprints

I did this run this morning….a nice mix of road and trail http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/126250977/ if anybody's interested. You can cut it a lot shorter by just going around the reservoirs and coming straight back (about 9-10km then).

Cheers,
Sharon.

Hi everyone.

So if you haven't been out for an early morning run with your fellow PyCon AU conference attendees, it's not too late to join us.

Yesterday morning five of us headed over to Salamanca Market and back; this morning, three of us managed to stagger out of bed after last night's conference dinner shenanigans and we ran down along the beach south of here.

I'm not sure who is around for the sprints and wants to run before the sprints, but we will still be meeting out the front of the casino's main entrance for a 7am run on Monday and Tuesday morning. We'll decide on direction, distance and pace on the day, based on who turns up.

Hope to see you!

Regards
Graeme

Hi everyone.

At last year's PyCon AU, I discovered that I wasn't the only person going
out for a run around town before the conference started each day.

So if you are interested in having some social runs at PyCon AU, some of
us will be heading out each day.

The (very loose) plan is:

1. On the Saturday and Sunday

5km runs on the Saturday and Sunday morning, leaving from outside the main
entrance of the Casino at 7am sharp.

The aim is for a social pace of about 5.5min/kms, so we are back by 7:30,
giving everyone time to shower and eat before the conference starts at
9am.

I'm very open to suggestions for routes, but the tentative plan is to run
(north west) to the Cascade Brewery one day, and then out (south east) to
Alexandra Battery Lookout the other day.

Both courses are out-and-back, so if you drop off the back, we can pick
you up on the way home!

2. On the Monday and Tuesday

Longer runs for anyone interested, again starting at 7am. I'm flexible on
distances and routes - if you are up for a run to the top of Mt Wellington
and back, I'm there :)

What if it rains one morning? Drizzle: I'm still running. Torrential
downpour: text me on the morning (0412 615 126) to see how masochistic I'm
feeling...

If you have any questions, drop me an email (or catch up with me at the
conference).

Regards
Graeme
