[LCP]Serial programming

Hi all
This is my first time to post here, and I hope that some one could help me
I'm trying to read from the serial port using a C code under linux, I
already succeeded in writing to the serial port but I still can't read, I
tried the function "read" but it's not working .
So is there anyone who tried to do such thing before and can help me ???
