[Linux-aus] LA name change discussion - a question of geography

Hi all
Possibly missed in the name change threads...
I noticed that some suggested new names had a broader geographic scope (A+NZ, AsiaPac, etc).
What I'm wondering is, would it indeed make sense for current LA to go broader than this?
General considerations
- focus can be good (geographically or otherwise)
- NZ speakers/delegates have been a full part of LCA confs, and Dunedin and Wellington have hosted.
- does LA have any activity in AsiaPac beyond A+NZ, eg does it have some implied mandate?
- are there other relevant orgs in AsiaPac beyond A+NZ? If we don't know the answer to that, we probably have no business there to begin with.
My consideration is that I think that being inclusive of NZ in the new name makes sense, particularly as LCA has been very NZ-inclusive for years so that bond/tie is already existing. However, it might still be good to explicitly hear some NZ opinions on this, as including someone without their consent is not cool.
Along the same lines, with the info I have currently I see no reason at all for LA possibly going broader than A+NZ.
Comments, thoughts?
Cheers,
Arjen.
