Hi All,

Here's a list of important information for all those coming to linux.conf.au 2009.

*Airport*
Tasmania has very strict quarrantine laws. It is importnat to make sure that you don't bring in any prohibited items. Sniffer dogs are there more often than not.

More info: http://www.dpiw.tas.gov.au/inter.nsf/themenodes/lfld-6c27re?open

The Airport is about a $45-$50 taxi ride to the University, if you are staying in the University Colleges then just ask the taxi driver to take you to the University colleges on college road - Tassie cabbies actually generally know where they're going which is a nice change from other cities.

Other transport options are to share a Maxi Taxi (bookings required)
or to catch the airporter bus which meets all flights

*Ferry*
Same quarrantine as for the airport.
The Ferry docks into Devonport on Tasmania's North-West Coast. It is approximately 3-3.5 hr drive to Hobart from here. Buses are available as well .

*Accommodation*
For those people staying in the University Colleges:
Check in is from Sunday at 1400.
Go to the reception area to pick up your room pass and breakfast vouchers, these have been individually allocated. The reception area is open for 0830 to 1700. After hours key pickup can be arranged, there is a silver intercom on the wall accross for the reception area, press the button marked reception and someone will be able to help you - this phone operates 24/7.

If you are bringing a car there is parking available at the colleges in the GREEN areas, parking in the white areas will land you with a $50 fine.

There are laundry facilities available at no charge at the University colleges, delegates must supply their own washing powder/liquid, there are also dryers available at no charge. If you wish to utilise the clothes lines, you must supply your own pegs.

Breakfast will be served in the hall behind the reception - times are on the door.

There will be network access in the residential accommodation. There will also be network access available at Wrest Point.
