What you're like:
You’re a positive-minded senior engineer with a passion for IT and
delivering business value. You know how things work and how everything should
fit together. Improving and optimising systems is embedded in your natural
workflow.
You’re highly technical, easily manage projects end-to-end and although
you’re detailed and analytic, you enjoy working in a team and building
relationships with your colleagues and stakeholders.
Skills and experience you need to be awesome in this role:
• Demonstrated problem solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis
and remediation
• A keen interest in working closely with stakeholders and ability to
develop a deep understanding of our business
• Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative fast-paced team
• Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and interpersonal
• Experience providing expert support, analysis and research into
exceptionally complex business and technology problems
• The ability to think critically in a high-paced environment; a sense of
urgency is essential
• Passion for technology, learning and staying on the cutting edge
Technical Skill set:
• Significant understanding of and ability to build/run a cutting-edge
Linux server fleet across multiple geographical regions
• Exposure to cloud/virtualisation/containerisation technologies and
platforms (eg. AWS, Azure, KVM, Vmware, Docker)
• Ability to integrate, develop and lead the CICD and DevOps practices in
the infrastructure space
• A solid understanding of networking principles, protocols and
technologies is essential
• Experience using modern orchestration technologies (eg. Puppet/Chef,
Salt, etc)
• Strong focus on automation
• Expert scripting capabilities (ideally Python, Ruby), experience using
GIT/SVN
• Assisting with analysis, evaluation and preparation of recommendations
for system improvements, optimisation, development, and/or maintenance
efforts
• Exposure to Windows operating systems
• Ability to work in a low-latency infrastructure environment
