Since our dear friends at Google pinched/poached/pilfered our last                                                                                      senior systems architect (aka Jamie Wilkinson) we're looking for a                                                                                      replacement. You'll be leading development and deployment of infrastructure and                                                                                      software systems, using popular open source and custom systems                                                                                          automation tools, to improve quality and reliability of the network                                                                                     and improve the productivity of your co-workers. Responsibilities of this role include:                

- Analysis, design and implementation of major pieces of                                                                                                  infrastructure in both internal company support and customer-visible                                                                                    areas.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        - Development of new and maintenance of existing tools to assist                                                                                          co-workers and increase productivity.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         - Testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of in-house and vendor                                                                                          software in development and production environments.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Requirements of the role:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       - Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,                                                                                      or equivalent.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                - Plenty of exposure to Linux and Free/Open Source software.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    - Knowledge of the foundations of the Internet.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 - Experience in systems administration and configuration management                                                                                       systems.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      - Programming experience in Python, Bourne Shell, Perl, PostgreSQL,                                                                                       and C.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        - Interest in computational theory: Von Neumann machines, the                                                                                             Church-Turing thesis.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         - Have an attention to detail bordering on obsessive-compulsive.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                - Likes brain-teasers, sudoku, crosswords, or other mental stimulation.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         - Dry, black sense of humour.
