System Administrator, Contract

* Reports to Chief Technical Officer. 
* Skilled in Linux system administration. Ideally this will be somebody who has enough experience to make recommendations from experience. The level of knowledge must exceed the ability to manage individual workstations. We require someone who can build Linux-based infrastructure. 
* Some level of Windows and Macintosh system administration would be desirable, for the maintenance of our non-Linux workstations. 
* Possesses a sound knowledge of hardware. Ability to build machines from scratch according to specification. 
* Providing recommendations on the tools and infrastructure that we should build in order to run the office efficiently, and discussing such issues with the technical staff. 
* Implementing and installing tools as required. Providing input on the type of hardware and/or software that is required.
Assembling orders for hardware and software. 
* Installing new workstations for new staff and setting up user accounts. 
* Maintenance of existing workstations. 
* Installation and maintenance
of servers, including those in the test and production environments.
* Installation and maintenance of printers, network infrastructure, Internet connections, mail server...etc. 
* Initially 2-3 days per week and available on call during other work-times.
