Amazon.com is sending hiring managers from our World Wide Discovery Platform Team to interview candidates in Sydney, Australia in early October 2005 for Seattle-based opportunities.

Our engineering team works on tough technical problems that engage and stretch their brains. Amazon.com is seeking experienced software engineers, managers, and project managers for its Seattle development office, focused on our Discovery Platform - specifically, personalization technology (think machine learning and data mining), search engine optimization and development, site navigation and browse, as well as peer-to-peer social networking and online communities.  We are already the world's largest e-commerce site, now we are leading the way as a e-commerce platform.  The next generation of e-commerce sites will be built using Amazon.com's technology, and we need sharp people to build the features and systems that will power that growth.

If you have experience with high-volume websites, distributed systems, data mining algorithms, usability, storage systems, or network programming, we'd like to talk to you.  Position requirements include:

 - BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or equivalent
 - Several years experience developing software
 - A talent for design, data modeling, and algorithms
 - Experience with C/C++, Linux/Unix
 - Excellent communication skills
