Senior Software Engineer - Lin, Full Time

Integrated Research, Ltd (http://www.ir.com), located in North Sydney, NSW is looking to hire a Linux kernel specialist.<br>

Our product, PROGNOSIS, provides performance and system monitoring metrics on Linux (and other UNIX) platforms that no competitor reliably provides to date. We're looking for someone to look after the Linux specific portions of this product, including kernel modules and low-level device communication.<br>

You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of low level Linux kernel modules and system interfaces to support the extraction of various system metrics. Responsibilities will extend to other Unix platforms over time.<br>

You must have the following knowledge and attributes:<br>
- 10 years in software development, specialising in Linux development for at least last 5 years<br>
- experience in C, preferrably using GNU tools (make, gcc, etc)<br>
- knowledge of building kernel modules for both 2.4 and preferrably 2.6 series kernels.<br>
- knowledge of the mechanics of Linux/UNIX system calls<br>
- strong focus on quality and testing<br>
- ability to work in a team environment<br>
- excellent written and verbal communication<br>
- ability and willingess to build test tools and perform unit testing of own and others code<br>
- ability to analyse process core dumps<br>

The following are desired in an applicant, but not essential if you are capable and willing to learn them:<br>
- tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology or Electronic Engineering<br>
- knowledge of the mechanics of Linux/UNIX volume management.<br>
- experience in assembler and/or C++<br>
- experience or knowledge of perl<br>
