System Adminstrator, Contract

The applications and database development role involves taking the technical lead in the design and implementation of a new data management system and application interface to store and manage hydraulic and associated datasets collected, including user support, documentation and training, under the guidance of the IT manager. The critera is a LAPP system;
    Linux, Apache, Postgresql, PHP.
The emphasis on skills is in the same order, so Linux first,then apache etc. Applicants should also be competent with Object Orientated 
techniques in PHP. 

·Minimum of 2-3 years experience in the following technical areas:
oSystem administration of a Linux server;
oConfiguration of the Apache Web Server on Linux;
oDevelopment in PHP including Object Orientated techniques;
oInterfacing PHP to Postgresql;
oModern Web methodologies, DOM, CSS, XHTML, Java script.
oExperience with other Languages, Java, perl.
oLdap database (open ldap)

·Management of system resources including email, data archives and backups;
·Trouble shooting and system tuning;
·User support and effective oral communication of technical issues to non-technical staff;
oWindows desktop knowledge appropriate for the end user application environment.
