These projects cover both maintenance and new feature development for key software components at the heart of SGI's product strategies for IRIX and Linux servers.

We have a requirement to expand our Quality Assurance program on our clustered filesystem CXFS, and are seeking a software engineer to participate full-time for a fixed-term period of 6 months.

+ hardware configuration of a variety of cluster and storage systems

The successful applicant would have the following skills:
+ familiarity with the C programming language
+ familiarity with one of the common Unix/Linux shells (sh, ksh or bash)
+ basic systems administration and filesystem knowledge
+ familiarity with more than one of the following operating systems:
IRIX, Linux, Solaris, AIX, Mac OS X, Windows

During the course of the contract, the successful applicant would potentially learn the following skills:
+ basic system administration on IRIX, Linux, Solaris, AIX, Mac OS X, Windows
+ automated testing systems
+ clustered filesystem internals
+ userspace and kernel level debugging
+ high-end RAID and SAN configuration

It is expected that suitable candidates would be recent graduates with a bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

For someone who is keen and willing to learn, this is a great opportunity to develop your skills and gain practical experience in a leading software engineering team, working on a variety of challenging problems. The lab environment features a wide range of current generation systems and storage hardware.

We offer a well-resourced, challenging environment with a competitive
remuneration package.
