Job summary:
We are seeking a full-time Support technician primarily to provide desktop support and computer sales services to our clients. The role involves supporting and developing multiple networks with regular visits on-site so the candidate must possess excellent and demonstrated people and communication skills. Tilda is located in Chippendale though the position also involves work at client premises throughout the Sydney metropolitan area. Start is immediate.
Job Description:
Desktop Support
---------------
installing, maintaining and upgrading computers on client networks
troubleshooting including hardware/software diagnosis and problem solving
undertaking some tasks on the client servers with the supervision of Tildas System Administrator
assessment and recommendations to clients to improve their computer network
provide client phone/email assistance on Tildas helpdesk
end user training and orientation for new staff
client support including reporting, documentation and liaison with clients
keeping up to date with current trends in Mac/PC software and hardware
project management and implementation of computer and network upgrades
Sales
-----
conceptualise, source and provide recommendations for equipment purchases
quoting, invoicing and purchasing of software and hardware for clients
Selection Criteria:
demonstrated experience troubleshooting on a network (minimum of 2 years) with a variety of operating systems including Mac OS 8.x, 9.x & 10.x and Windows 95, 98, 2000 & XP.
customer support and sales experience
well developed time management skills
thorough understanding of desktop applications
excellent communication skills to provide technical support by phone, email and on-site
excellent writing skills to provide written reports to customers
demonstrated ability to record and document activities
ability to work independently and in a team
Desirable Criteria:
knowledge of and use of Mac OS X for desktop and server
knowledge of or experience with community sector (non-profit) organisations
knowledge of and use of Linux

Hours: 38 hours per week
Salary Range: $34,000-$37,400 per annum depending on experience
