Hi Lexi

Thank you once again for submitting a grant application to Linux Australia.
As previously advised, your application was discussed at this evening's
Linux Australia Council meeting. Guided by the community feedback received,
I am sorry to inform you that the application was not successful.

Linux Australia members felt that the grant application embodied a worthy
goal. The grant application was well researched and clearly expressed.
However, a number of specific concerns were raised.

 1. It was not planned to make the project's products freely available
through a Creative Commons licence (or similar). Accordingly it was not
obvious how the grant would benefit the wider community in general and
the Open Source community in particular.

 2. The application did not appear to be making use of open technologies
(Open Source software or open hardware).

 3. The amount requested (slightly over $10000) represented just under a
third of the total funding pool for grants in 2020. Given this and the
observations described in items 1 and 2 above, members were reluctant
to fund the application in full. A suggestion to offer partial funding
was briefly considered, but this was not considered sufficient to
overcome the issues in items 1 and 2.

If you have any questions about the outcome of your application or would
like to discuss ways of adjusting the proposal for a future submission,
please contact myself or any member of the Linux Australia Council.

Regards
  Jonathan Woithe
(on behalf of the Linux Australia Council)
