For a dialup account / modem setup try the following.
open a console
kterm for example.
get root
this is one way.
you at yourhost~# su
password (roots)
your console prompt will change you now have the ability to destroy
everything :)
root at yourhost~$ adduser you dip
root at yourhost~$ adduser you dialout
root at yourhost~$ pppconfig
enter the info
(new account)
(try pap it almost always works)
(try tone dialing before pulse)
(username, password, phone number (no spaces) at your ISP)
(probe for modem)(ttyS0...3)
I expect kppp works much the same.
Points of note:
-the config files will be written to /etc/ppp/*
(you can hand edit them the accounts are under the peers directory, the
passwords and stuff are in seperate directorys)
-you can have as many accounts as you like.
