Hi all

This is the need to know email for lca2011 (well all I can think of at this time of night).

Venue: Blocks F, N, L, B and S
Qld. University of Technology (QUT) - Kelvin Grove Campus
Victoria Park Road, Kelvin Grove, 4059
		http://bit.ly/i8BP8b

Contact Number: +61 7 3103 7998 or see the info at http://lca2011.linux.org.au/contact Please note that email will not be monitored very closely during the week of the conference and the phone may be the best contact. If there are issues then go to the registration desk and they will point you in the right direction.

Getting to the Venue: A shuttle bus service will be provided for delegates - please refer to all details at https://conf.linux.org.au/wiki/Transport If you do not want to capitalise on the free transport options we have provided then please also refer to the public transport options on this same page.

Registration: Registration will occur in the foyer adjacent to F509 - the main lecture theatre (Follow the signs - look for the banner) and will be available each morning of the conference from 8:30am. Sunday afternoon registration will occur from 1600 - 1800hrs.

The Noobies session with Rusty Russell: For those new to a linux.conf.au this is a must attend session. Find out what to expect and not to expect and grab a little of Rusty's humour at the same time. This will occur at 1830hrs at F509 - more than likely people will be thirsty after this and venture to a local informal spot for drink or food or even both.

Network:  	The following wireless SSID's will be available on the whole QUT, Kelvin Grove Campus (and possibly in many of the eating areas in the Urban Village (near QUT) if you require packets to be transmitted during your food consumption);
lca2011 - open public (means no password needed)
			lca2011-wpa - password = linux.conf.au

Competitions: There will be a number of competitions during the conference and as soon as we finish writing some of the code in zookeepr we will announce these. In particular there will be a Hackfest and photographic competition. More details to follow shortly.

Prizes: there will be some including random giveaways starting on Monday morning

Moving between sessions: The easiest way to move between buildings is via the Ring road which links most of the buildings - please see the campus maps or the google map link above and follow the signs. Please be reminded that there are still classes on campus (summer school) during the time of the conference.

iCal - yes there is a beta version at http://lca2011.linux.org.au/programme/schedule/ical and no it does not conform that well at present. A solution to this though would be to make a contribution to the bzr tree with an appropriate patch for zookeepr :-) We were a little pushed for time here - but may have some more news on that tomorrow.

The size of your head - needed for schwag (please measure or have an educated guess)

Social networking - please use the tag lca2011 for your favourite tool e.g. identi.ca, twitter, facebook (and maybe planet feed if we remember that tomorrow).

Organised Social Events (further logistics will follow):

Penguin Dinner - if you have registered for this or have this included as part of your ticket (check your badge) - it will be held at the Brisbane Convention Centre on Thursday the 27th

Professional Delegates Networking Session (PDNS) - if you have registered for this or have this included as part of your ticket (check your badge) - it will be held at the Maritime Museum on Wednesday the 26th.

Problems or something not working: Please refer these immediately to the registration desk and they will try to help you out where possible in the first instance

First Aid: There will be a St. John's Ambulance officer on campus for the duration of the conference and will be located in S205

The lca2011 team hopes that you all get a lot from the conference and have a heap of fun.

Cheers
Shaun & the lca2011 team
