If you want the *strict* ISO compilant STL then you need gcc-3.0, the STL
shipped with gcc-2.95 (most stable distributions use this) currently is
unmaintained.

But for most needs it is far enougth.. just take care with some extensions
like iostreams contructors which take a file descriptor.
