From jkristen at theintraweb.net Tue Jun 22 00:38:31 2021 From: jkristen at theintraweb.net (John Kristensen) Date: Tue, 22 Jun 2021 00:38:31 +1000 Subject: [TasLUG] Current state of TasLUG meetups Message-ID: <4a99e216-579e-5125-58e7-6b0dc8c7cba2@theintraweb.net> Hello All, It has been well over a year since our last Hobart TasLUG meetup and I thought it was well past time to update everyone on where things are currently at... --- The TLDR version is I been very busy lately and haven't had time to organise events. I'll need your help if you want to see TasLUG events happening again. --- Life has been very busy for me lately and I have either been out of town or had other commitments on our usual TasLUG nights, so organising events hasn't been a high on my priority list. At this point I think if people want to see meetups happening again I'll probably need one or two people to volunteer some of their time to make that happen. Please read on to see how you can help. # TasPubLUGs With things resembling something like normal I was hoping to start doing TasPubLUGs again but I'm unsure of my availability for these in the immediate future. If you would see the TasPubLUGs happening again and are happy to do a little bit of organising (ie. pick a venue and make a booking) please get in touch. # TasLUG Meetings We currently don't have a venue of meetings. Meetings were previously beeing held at Enterprise in Hobart but the previous Community Manager who was my contact there has moved on. I tried reaching out to the new Community Manager earlier this year but I didn't hear back (and I haven't had time to try and follow up). If you would like to see TasLUG meetings happening again and are happy to spend some time finding an appropriate venue (either a new venue, or helping to reestablishing a relationship with Enterprize) then please get in touch. Assuming we manage to secure a new venue, it is likely I will also need someone to volunteer a bit of time regularly to help find speakers for these meetings. Again, if this is something that you are interested in doing, please get in touch. Hopefully there are a few people out there who are willing to volunteer a bit of their time to get real-life TasLUG meetups happening again. SeeYa, John.
