If you want to come along, you'll need to let me know this week so I can ensure any additional kits turn up in time. Looks like we have 10 of us who are going to turn up and hack around with the ESP8266. I've got enough NodeMCU's for everybody who emailed me. Sorry if you didn't get a personal reply from me, it might have gone straight to spam since I've been moving my mail server to a new IP this month so there has been some downtime. Looks like the Bunnings price for the remote power points was part of a stock clearance. They don't carry those Arlec ones anymore, so I got the next cheapest from EBay. Unfortunately this means that instead of $27 they are $35. However we've found we won't need to use relays and instead we'll be using a quad bilateral switch, which pretty much cancels out the price difference. Anyway, I look forward to this Wednesday evening's activities. For those that are coming you will need: - Micro-USB cable (I have a few spares but not enough to go around). - Laptop - Optional phone with wifi hotspot On 2016-06-28 14:22, Scott Bragg wrote: > We interrupt our normal programming to bring you something different, somewhere else on a different day. > > THE SOMETHING DIFFERENT: is a hardware hackfest using NodeMCU; a very cheap ($12) open-source firmware development board featuring the venerable ESP8266 chip. See you at the Royal Oak on Saturday 30th July. Meeting starts at 2:00PM, people will be arriving from about 1:00PM for a bit to eat and chat before the meeting starts. Attitude ? )
