This week is your last chance to get a talk in, so please submit something! First time speakers welcome :-) ----- Forwarded message from "Christopher Neugebauer (linux.conf.au 2017)" ----- This week is your last chance to get a talk or miniconf proposal in for linux.conf.au 2017! Submissions for talks, tutorials, and miniconfs close on this Friday, 5 August. ***We do not expect to extend this deadline.*** You can find details on how to submit your proposals at https://linux.conf.au/proposals This year, our theme is "The Future of Open Source". We're still interested in talks about new and exciting developments in every aspect of Free and Open Source Software, but we?ll also be focusing particularly on how the world of Open Source will look in the future. If you?re working with Free and Open Source Software, Open Hardware, if you?re exploring openness in a field outside of technology, or if you?re doing something that you think will be interesting to people interested in Open Source, we want to hear from you! You can read more about what we're looking for in our Call for Proposals, which can be found at https://linux.conf.au/proposals -- Our CFP also contains details of what support we're able to provide for our speakers, including limited travel and accommodation support. Anyone here who's used nympy ? If data is a 2D array of data, does data.T mean its transpose ? I've recently become curious about Restricted Boltzmann machines: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restricted_Boltzmann_machine http://blog.echen.me/2011/07/18/introduction-to-restricted-boltzmann-machines/ https://github.com/echen/restricted-boltzmann-machines http://deeplearning4j.org/restrictedboltzmannmachine.html http://deeplearning4j.org/understandingRBMs.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoffrey_Hinton http://learning.cs.toronto.edu http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~hinton/ http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~hinton/absps/guideTR.pdf https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdIURAu1-aU 2010 google talk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJdWESd543Y 2012 IPAM summer school Is there anyone here in taslug, perhaps even in Hobart, who knows about these things ? Compare this to SSD's which have over 200MB/sec+ read/write and your storage is painfully slow. - no mention if the USB here is USB 3.0, probably not compared to other aspects of the specification, if you plug in external storage you USB2 will limit you to - My phone is a quad core 2GHz in almost the same form factor yet this is only dual core 1.2GHz, not much more than a R-Pi. - No wifi or LAN, so there's another USB port needed. They're recommending a 3.4 kernel which is several years old now. Here is another EOMA board from 2013 and the specs have barely moved up in the 3 years since. http://liliputing.com/2013/11/improv-is-a-75-modular-arm-based-computer-core-eoma-68.html All this and you have to wait until March 2017 to get this already obsolete hardware.
