Specifically LCA 2020 call for (session/miniconf) proposals announcements. We discussed sending announcements to some of the other email lists ("linux-aus" and "announce") and possibly sending reminders out. I believe we've got 2 weeks left in the CFP period, so I think it would be worthwhile scheduling a few reminders to help give a bit of a giddyup to any fence-sitters or people who've had it on the back burner. I don't know how list-announcements get emitted, but I imagine _someone_ here does. I think it's be worthwhile sending out one now, then next weekend, then possibly in the couple of days before the close. As for using the other lists: I reckon it'd be worthwhile sending out a single announcement on each that points the readers to the "lca-announce" list for better info. Thoughts? How does one get a list announcement out? Thanks, M0les. -- Miles Goodhew, Executive Computer Scientist -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... That person would work on a communications plan, which identifies the channel that the comms need to go out on, when, and creates the copy and associated artefacts (images, videos used on social media etc). Part of that plan usually includes posting announcements to linux-aus (and lca-announce for LCA). Once the announcements are posted, the moderators (I'm not sure who they are off the top of my head) will approve the posts. The next action here is for the LCA2020 Media & Comms person to draft the announcements and send them to linux-aus and to lca-announce lists, and for the relevant people to approve the posts. How much time do you think we'll need? I can't really take any time off work and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are out for me, so I could possibly do something Friday evening. Otherwise the weekend is pretty good for me (Although I have an event at 16:30 Saturday, but it's not critical). Julien's also wanting to come up for it too and he *can* take Friday if need be or the weekend also. I think a full day's possibly a bit much, but maybe an afternoon? I guess the main things I was hoping to cover: * Meet-up/face-to-face possibly lunch or something * Education about how to use Wordpress and work flow * Cover any communication scheduling/planning processes. * Identification and discussion about specific areas of the website that need some work * Writing and reviewing copy for the website. * Anything else? So how much time do you think we need? Next question: Where? "Somewhere in the ANU" is a possibility (But I can't be any more specific than that, and I'd be looking to you to fill-in this blank). Alternatively I could accommodate 4 people at my dining table or several more on couches if there are more bodies to accommodate. I'll have to check this with my wife when she's conscious, but it should be OK (You'll have to also deal with my dog Bob leaning on you and sitting on your feet). Thoughts? M0les. I'm on a train down Friday evening, back Saturday evening (5pm train), staying at the QT. It's also the weekend that Mike Beattie is in town for admin team work, so we talked about doing lunch with Mike & Steve. I've also been seeing if I could coordinate with Steve/Mike for discussing the moving of the LA website onto the new hardware. As I'm at a bit of a disadvantage as-to what I don't know and where at the ANU things should happen, how about kicking-off at 10:00 at a cafe (There's something called Rex in what used to be the Union court at the ANU, that seems to be open at the time? Failing that, backups are Mocan/Green Grout near the QT or the Cupping Room near the cop shop). I can't be too precise on setting an agenda, but I think we could start with Kathy's 1-hour intro to Wordpress (Stretched-out up to as much as 2 hours by me asking idiot questions). Then workshop/task any specific items that need to be done with the existing website content if we have any time before lunch. About 12/12:30 meet-up with the Admin Team for a lunch somewhere(*) for about an hour; Then discuss with the Admin Team anything we need to about migrating the existing website onto the new LA hosting hardware. Finally go-off and start bashing keyboards to write/update any content from the tasks identified in the earlier session. We could go for as long as anyone could be bothered (Max 4 PM, or probably earlier). I expect the only fixed times would be kick-off and lunch, but the rest of the activities would mostly just flow in sequence (leaving the elastic "hack fest" bit at the end, as it doesn't really require us to be working together and we can cut it short when we've had enough). Is that "organised enough"? (*) LA have offered to pick-up the tab. Probably lunching somewhere in the ANU union court area (Although Steve's suggested a trip to the Yarralumla Turkish for a Kebab & I always try and get people interested in Boffins if I'm in the area) M0les.
