But to be serious for a moment, I do really think that renaming your
subcommittee to something along the lines of "Publicity and Outreach
Subcommittee" would be a good move. 

It would better frame things like trying to grow social media followings
and attract new members. While I'm sure you'll get some hate with this
name (IE "LA doesn't need a PR committee") but I'm confident those
people will hate on anything and I think it will be positive for more
"mainstream" members. This name even bakes in a mandate to be proactive
in growing and actively doing new things while "Media and
Communications" is a lot more passive.

It's your subcommittee and people doing the work get to make the
decisions, so feel free to ignore me. Just my back seat driving, 2cents :-)
