    I recommend using the combination of UnixODBC (http://www.unixodbc.org/)
    and libODBC++ (http://orcane.net/freeodbc++/).

    The first one is used by the second for accessing any kind of ODBC
    compliant database. the C++ API of the second is simply very convenient
    and rather well documented (http://orcane.net/freeodbc++/libodbc++/progref/)
