    OK, I'll try to explain.

    THERE IS NO "HOW THIS ACTUALLY WORKS" (in C). All you oucld possibly
investigate is "how does this work on this version of this
implementation of C". Not "how does this work in C". The formal rules of
C declare that in a situation like this the order may be anything and
it's still a "correct" implementation of C.
