"For the purpose of this prize, research software is software built for 
and used predominantly in the conduct of research. The research may be 
carried out in a range of settings, including but not limited to 
academia, public sector, industry and citizen science.

Eligible software activities include applications, tools, utilities, 
frameworks and libraries. They may be open- or closed-source, free or 
commercially available. They may be available as a service."
