From josh at bartletts.id.au Fri May 21 09:53:43 2021 From: josh at bartletts.id.au (Josh Bartlett) Date: Fri, 21 May 2021 09:53:43 +1000 Subject: [Linux-aus] Looking for tips on legal hurdles for hosting public online events Message-ID: Hi all, I maintain an open source video game. Every month or so, I organise a small online tournament. I typically only invite people I know to these tournaments. I'd love to advertise the tournament more widely, but I'm hesitant to do so without a better understanding of my obligations in terms of public liability and child safety when running a public online event. Can anyone point me in the direction of any people or resources to help me work through these questions? As I'm sure you all understand, I'd prefer not to have to pay large amounts of money for advice, as the project has no source of funding. (Also, if any of you know of any communities of open source game developers in Australia, I'd love to hear about them?perhaps I could speak with others who have faced similar issues.) Thanks, Josh Bartlett. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... When it is working properly it can be configured to only execute or mmap files that are RSA signed and also have RSA signatures on SE Linux file context labels. My general idea is to have the signatures made on an internal server and then pushed to a production server such that the production server has no ability to write a file (not even as root) that the kernel will execute. Posting to this list because probably lots of people here will be interested, and because someone on this list mentioned related things in a conversation. -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/ From blakjak at blakjak.net Mon May 31 07:00:48 2021 From: blakjak at blakjak.net (Mark Foster) Date: Mon, 31 May 2021 09:00:48 +1200 Subject: [Linux-aus] Freenode and IRC Channels Message-ID: <63794fc6-6290-b304-6cd6-06f7be8c2ff1@blakjak.net> Hi Team, I assume those of you who are regular users of the LA IRC Channels are savvy with recent goings-on involving Freenode. Unfortunately I seem to have missed the boat and i'm not the only one based on recent chat history. Could Linux Australia (Council, perhaps?) please put something out on the mailing list to confirm the LA position on things, and where official chatrooms will live going forward? Thanks, Mark. Good to know this happened AFAIK the IRC channel has nothing to do with council and was set up by conference attendees a long time ago. I see #linux.conf.au now exists on libre.chat.
