[Linux-aus] Membership Renewal Link Fail

Thank you both.

It was somewhat concerning to receive what could’ve easily been a well crafted phish, so I look forward to seeing the required improvements.

And I’ve been able to successfully renew my membership.

No bite on my SPF comment, I note! Something for Council to consider as a future improvement, I hope. DMARC and DKIM too.

Cheers

Mark.

Dear All,

My absolute apologies for not sending out something earlier. Council have been busily working away with the LCA session selection this weekend and I haven't been able to contact you all until now. Unfortunately emails went out from our system with a minor proof-reading error and we sent out the wrong URL. Thank you to Kathy for stepping in and providing instructions to the list and Thank you to all who have contacted us in the last couple of days to let us know. If we don't get back to you straight away please bear with us whilst we try and get ourselves sorted. We will also be sending out new-renewal emails (that also look a little more official and a little less dodgy) in the coming days with the right URL for you all to renew your membership.

Again our absolute apologies, turns out we sometimes do technology bad...

Thanks,

Sae Ra

Thanks Mark for pointing this out.

As the person who had the most to do with implementing the new website /
membership system last year, this is my bad.

I don't want to speak for Council, but I don't think I'm overstepping
the mark by explaining that renewals were implemented in the new
membership system so that we could keep the membership list current, in
line with the Linux Australia constitution and our obligations under NSW
(LA is an incorporated association in the state of NSW).

To renew;

1. Go to https://linux.org.au

2. Log in at https://linux.org.au/wp-login.php

3. Go to the Member area at: https://linux.org.au/member-area/

4. Follow the links to renew your membership

Kind regards,

Kathy
