Hi all,

For those interested in FOSS "spatial stuff", the QGIS Australia User
Group [1] is planning a one or two day QGIS focused event later this
year (likely a Friday to ease travel issues)- Probably late November
(to coincide with the QGIS 3.0 release [2]), possibly in Melbourne
(otherwise Sydney), but everything is still up for grabs.

We have two core QGIS developers here in Australia who will be running
workshops- Nathan Woodrow [3] & Nyall Dawson [4].
For those interested in getting involved in organising or
participating, please join in.  There is a mailing list but there is
probably more discussion & activity via twitter on #AuGIStribe [5]
(promoted by QGIS Australia for the wider Australian GIS tribe, but
seems so far to be very FOSS/QGIS centric).

Regards,
Tim Bowden
