Hi Anestis,

I can see your point - your friend now pays for all software because he had
hassles with some software he didn't pay for in the past. Bravo to him, I say
- - he has made his choice. From your description he is now adamantly opposed
to using 'free' software, whether that be proprietary freeware or Free Open
Source Software - the list has already talked about the fundamental
differences between these two software forms, so I'm sure you're aware of it.

It sounds like your example is somewhat moot, though. I can equally find
examples of people - such as myself - who are determined to use FOSS wherever
possible and avoid any program or operating system that demands a license fee.
~ This proves that there are people in the world that make up their mind and
are determined to stick by it. Whether one calls these people 'blinkered' or
'satisfied' is a matter of opinion. It is certainly a pity that your friend
uses out-of-date opinions to guide his thinking, but then one can find
examples of this everywhere.

I think what you've given us is an interesting anecdote but not something that
fundamentally progresses the discussion of how to promote Free Open Source
Software.

Hope this helps,

Paul
