Could Linux Australia consider a grant of $2500 - $5000 to be shared
equally amongst the Barcamps being organised in Australia?
Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, Perth?
http://barcamp.org/BarCampAustralia
$500 - $1000 per city - depending on need & costs?
It's a large amount - but barcamps accessibility and participation value
is very high.
Everyone involved blogging about it, and promoting it, and adding links
to http://www.linux.org.au's website - would be a good thing.
LA sponsoring barcamp would entail both barcamp and linux australia
getting creative about maximising
a> participation of the FOSS community, and
b> exposure of Linux Australia
hard work by all involved to get into free listings on local radio
community switchboards, and local papers will help too.
We would also need some kind of report / accountability...
perhaps videos? etc.
Either way - I support the small grant for barcamp melbourne of $500 -
but I think this is a great opportunity for linux australia to spread
the word, and build links to other parts of the tech / builder
community.
