[Linux-aus] New Federal Govt's Education/PC plans

Personally, I was thinking more along the lines of the ASUS EEE PCs. A
good introduction to Linux, even as thin clients, which can act as
standalone "mini-PCs" that are highly configurable, can have a standard
SOE, can be locked down as required, and storage can occur on student's
own H: drives or pen drives as appropriate. It would easily meet the
Linux in Schools agenda, while support could be offered from a large
multinational.

I understand some of the earliest deals struck with ASUS over the EEE PC
was with Government and education in other countries - why not push that
as a solution which fits nicely with ideology (arguments about Xandros
aside...)?

Leah.
