Can you provide a URL for a web page that explains the plans of the ACS, to have "a mandatory registration system"?

It sounds a bit like Pandora and her wooden receptable, wich was not
securely closed.

This has been an ACS goal for some time - con the government into making them the mandatory cusdodians of IT in Australia, thereby guarranteeing them:

whoa back off boys and girls ... it might have been an ambition of a particular individual in a position of authority, but he's gone now to a better place, at least according to him.

It is not and has not been an ambition of the ACS to be the registration board of ICT practitioners, the existence of such a board however is consistent with all other professions eg teachers registration board, nurses, doctors, dentists etc etc. It is most unusual for a professional society to also act as the Board for registrations per se and I cant see ICT being any different to that.

However one of the criteria for registration as an ICT professional might be "membership of an appropriate professional body", and clearly ACS would expect to be included as an appropriate professional body.

I dont know who janet was with from acs at the meeting yesteday in adelaide, I certainly wasnt there and I am the chairman in SA.
