[Linux-aus] fwd: Notice of AGM to be held 2006/01/25
Hi all,
I thought this might be useful for the general public list :) All members
should have already received it and if you aren't a member and want to
participate, then join up at http://linux.org.au/membership
Please note, nominations for the 2006 LA ctte are only open till the 11th,
so get in and nominate! Also, if you have been nominated and want to run,
make sure you accept the nomination, otherwise people can't vote for you :)
Cheers,
Pia

Subject: Notice of AGM to be held 2006/01/25
Organisation: Linux Australia
Dear Linux Australia member,
This message is to give notice that Linux Australia, Inc will hold its
Annual General Meeting of Members on 25th January 2006 at 16:00 NZDT
(4pm New Zealand Daylight Savings Time) at Linux.Conf.Au in Dunedin,
New Zealand.
Members unable to attend the meeting may raise issues for the committee
to respond to either publicly, by mailing the linux-aus mailing list [0],
or privately by mailing the committee directly [1].
The agenda for the meeting is as follows:
* President's welcome
* Reports from 2005 office bearers
* Presentation of financials for fiscal year ended 30 June 2005
* Official announcement of linux.conf.au 2007 host
* Confirmation of minutes of the 2005 AGM (see below)
* Endorsement of committee activities (see below)
* Announcement of results of the 2006 LA committee election (see below)
* Questions from members
Elections for the new LA committee will be conducted using the online
system developed for the previous elections [2], and comprise a nomination
period that ends on the 11th of January, and a voting period from the
18th of January until the 24th of January, with a week in between for
discussion amongst members and the candidates on the linux-aus list.
Members with an interest in Linux Australia are encouraged to vote,
discuss and nominate! The results will be verified and announced at
the AGM, to the linux-aus list, and on the Linux Australia website
[3]. Note that the election site requires you to login to view the site;
instructions on retrieving your password are available [4], and the
email with which you are registered as a member is noted at the bottom
of this mail.
The minutes from the 2005 AGM were posted to the linux-aus mailing list
in February 2005 for members to review [4]. Voting will occur at the
meeting by show of hands; members unable to attend in person may vote
by email to the committee no later than the 22nd of January.
The committee will ask that the members ratify that its activities,
as detailed in the office bearers' reports and publicly available were
in accordance with the organisation's aims. Those reports will be made
available to members online as early as possible, and votes from members
unable to attend the AGM will be accepted up until a week after they
are made available for review.
In closing, on behalf of the committee I would like to thank you for your
interest in Linux Australia and involvement with the community to date,
and encourage you to pass on any questions or ideas you may have about
the organisation's future to the linux-aus list or the committee directly.
(Membership in Linux Australia is currently free and does not expire;
if you would like your membership cancelled so as not to receive further
mails like this, please simply email secretary@linux.org.au indicating
that)
Your membership details: Pia C Waugh (2) <greebo@pipka.org>
Yours sincerely,
Anthony Towns
