SunOS was BSD-derived, but Solaris is System V derived. But even so we 
previously bought complete UNIX IP rights from SCOs predecessors 
(perpetual license and all that) so we can make/ship derivative products 
without issue.

If you want a platform safe from IP issues don't forget Solaris x86 :-)
